True Colors
Cyndi Lauper
You with the sad eyes
don't be discouraged
oh I realize
it's hard to take courage
in a world full of people
you can lose sight of it all
and the darkness inside you
can make you feel so small
But I see your true colors
shining through
I see your true colors
and that's why I love you
so don't be afraid to let them show
your true colors
true colors are beautiful
like a rainbow
Show me a smile then
don't be unhappy, can't remember
when I last saw you laughing
if this world makes you crazy
and you've taken all you can bear
you call me up
because you know I'll be there
I can't remember when I last saw you laugh.
And I'll see your true colors
shining through
I see your true colors
and that's why I love you
so don't be afraid to let them show
your true colors,
true colors are beautiful
like a rainbow

Two Oscars
They always compared Al Gore to a statue. It's only fate.
Congratulations to Al Gore and Davis Guggenheim for winning an Oscar for Best Documentary for An Inconvenient Truth.
Congratulations to Melissa Etheridge for her Oscar for Best Original Song for "I Need to Wake Up."
Run, Al, run, but don't announce until about November or so... there's no rush for someone with your name recognition. And, besides, you're already talking to the voters.
Available here.

I've added another blog, a place to highlight feminist happenings and showcase my related designs. My first activism was around feminist issues, and they're still near and dear to my heart. When "matriarchy" was already taken as a blogger site, I tried word play. I think the tree fits the concept nicely, adding an environmental touch.

Dinosaur Flatulence?
Available here.
From Think Progress:
From Think Progress:
This week, Congress held its first hearing on the landmark IPCC report on climate change. That report concluded that global warming is “unequivocal” and human activity is the main driver, “very likely” causing most of the rise in temperatures since 1950.
During the hearing, Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) — one of the 87 percent of congressional Republicans who do not believe in man-made global warming — questioned the authors of the report about a period of dramatic climate change that occured 55 million years ago. “We don’t know what those other cycles were caused by in the past. Could be dinosaur flatulence, you know, or who knows?’
