Senator Bill Frist of Tennessee, Majority Leader, has won the Republican straw poll of party activists. Frist, a doctor, has been a vocal leader for the Religious Right and he participated in the hate-mongering gay-bashing "Justice Sunday." Since he's a doctor, and presumably running for President, which would certainly harm the country, this seems like an appropriate request. "Primum non nocere."
He's also a cat killer. Frist writes in his book "Transplant" that he would "adopt" cats from the local shelters and then bring them to the lab where they would "die in the interest of science." So, I added a "cat version" as a little reminder of that while he runs for president.
Hmmm... Got this in email. Interesting. "Dear Zazzler," "Thank you for your interest in Zazzle.com, and thank you for publishing products on Zazzle. Unfortunately, it appears that one of your products, “Torturing the Constitution”, is in violation of Zazzle’s Violence / Content policy. We will be removing this product from the Zazzle galleries shortly."
WASHINGTON - In dramatic and sometimes agonizing terms, federal disaster officials warned President Bush and his homeland security chief before Hurricane Katrina struck that the storm could breach levees, put lives at risk in New Orleans' Superdome and overwhelm rescuers, according to confidential video footage.
Bush didn't ask a single question during the final briefing before Katrina struck on Aug. 29, but he assured soon-to-be-battered state officials: "We are fully prepared."
The footage - along with seven days of transcripts of briefings obtained by The Associated Press - show in excruciating detail that while federal officials anticipated the tragedy that unfolded in New Orleans and elsewhere along the Gulf Coast, they were fatally slow to realize they had not mustered enough resources to deal with the unprecedented disaster.
